Overview
The base vehicle is the same Toyota HiLux SR 4x4 double cab that does the work on every second Perth job site: 2.8-litre turbo-diesel, five seats behind four doors, part-time 4x4 with low range, and an 80-litre tank that earns its keep on the drive up the Great Northern Highway. What changes is the fitout. A mine spec vehicle is a standard 4x4 modified so it can operate safely alongside haul trucks and heavy plant, and the equipment falls into a few groups: visibility gear so operators of much larger machines can see you, communications, safety and recovery equipment, and monitoring systems. Here's the part every contractor needs to hear clearly, and we'd rather say it upfront than at the gate. Mine spec is not one standard. Each mining company publishes its own vehicle requirements, and individual sites add their own conditions on top. A vehicle that passes at one operation can be knocked back at the next one down the road. So the way we work is this: tell us which site you're mobilising to before you book, and send through the site's vehicle requirements from your induction pack. We'll go through it line by line and tell you honestly whether the vehicle we have matches it, what needs adding, and what we can't cover. If it isn't a fit, we'll say so rather than send you north and hope. Confirming the vehicle meets the site's requirements always stays with the contractor — that's how it works across the industry — but you shouldn't have to do that guesswork on your own, and we'll do the legwork with you. Best for: mining and resources contractors, shutdown and maintenance crews, drilling and exploration support, civil works in the Pilbara and Goldfields, FIFO project vehicles.
