A six-cylinder also sounds different to the four-cylinder cars around it — quieter at a cruise, deeper when you ask. quattro is the other half of it. All-wheel drive means the power is usable on a wet Perth winter morning, not just on a dry Sunday. For a fast car being driven by someone unfamiliar with the roads, that's worth more than a tenth of a second. Inside it's an Audi executive cabin: comfortable over distance, well insulated, and set up for someone who'll spend a working week in it. Rear seat space and boot capacity are the same as the standard car in its class, which is the entire appeal — you're not paying for pace with practicality. Practical notes. It runs low-profile tyres on large wheels, so take care on speed humps and car park ramps. It takes premium unleaded. Track, circuit and competitive driving are excluded under the rental agreement, and it's sealed roads only. WA's anti-hoon laws apply, and police can impound a vehicle on the spot. Best for: business travel with something in reserve, the drive south, anyone who wants pace without a sports car's compromises or attention, drivers who value all-weather traction.
