The A3 Sedan is the version to hire when you're working out of the car. Airport in the morning, three meetings, a hotel car park overnight, back to the airport on Friday. In that week, a boot that hides everything and locks separately from the cabin earns its keep every single day. At 425 litres it's the larger of the two A3 boots, and it takes two large suitcases plus laptop and briefcase without anything visible through a window. Anyone who has parked a loaded hatchback in a public car park knows the difference. Mechanically it's identical to the Sportback: a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, producing 110kW and 250Nm through Audi's S tronic dual-clutch automatic. Claimed combined consumption is 5.3L/100km from a 50-litre tank, which is a genuinely long range for a week of Perth driving and client visits. Inside is unchanged too, and that's the point. A 12.3-inch digital instrument display, central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three-zone climate control, heated front seats and a powered driver's seat. It's a comfortable office for a week. The trade-off is honest: the sedan's boot opening is much smaller than a hatch's, and the rear seats don't open it out the same way. If you're carrying anything bulky, take the Sportback. If you're carrying suitcases and want them out of sight, take this. Sealed roads only, as across the fleet. Best for: business travel and client meetings, airport transfers, corporate accounts, longer hires where presentation matters, anyone who wants luggage concealed and secure. Not ideal for: bulky or awkward loads, five adults with full luggage, unsealed roads, budget-first hires.
